A Year I Held Without Resolution

I am tired.
Not the kind of tired that comes from a full calendar or a busy season.
A deeper fatigue.
Mental. Emotional. Physical.
The kind that settles in when you stay present inside uncertainty for too long, without a clean place to put it down.
2025 asked me to hold more than it resolved.
I moved across countries, but more importantly, across frames of reference. What once felt familiar no longer did. What I thought would feel grounding required adjustment. Even rest took effort.
There was no single breaking point.
Just a steady accumulation of strain.
The work itself wasn’t the problem.
The ambiguity was.
-
Responsibility without full authority.
-
Decisions without clear ownership.
-
The quiet politics that live between good intentions and actual structure.
I spent much of the year observing patterns repeat themselves. Documenting instead of debating. Choosing precision over reaction.
That restraint has a cost.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped performing certainty. Not as a decision. More as a necessity. It simply became too heavy to carry alongside everything else.
I said less.
Explained less.
Let some misunderstandings stand.
Not out of disengagement, but because clarity forced rarely holds.
Writing shifted this year. It stopped being about output and became a way to metabolize experience. Essays weren’t content. They were containers. Places to slow things down enough to see what was actually happening underneath.
Some thoughts didn’t want conclusions.
They wanted space.
There were things 2025 didn’t give me.
-
No clean wins.
-
No tidy endings.
-
No sense of arrival.
There was grief in that, even if I didn’t name it at the time. Grief for roles that looked right on paper but felt wrong in the body. For effort that wasn’t mirrored. For clarity that arrived later than I hoped, but earlier than it might have.
What 2025 did give me was quieter.
-
A clearer relationship with time.
-
A refusal to rush meaning.
-
A deeper respect for accuracy over approval.
-
The discipline to document rather than convince.
I end this year tired.
Not burnt out.
Not defeated.
Just honest about the cost of staying awake inside complexity.
I don’t need resolution tonight.
I need rest.
And, for the first time in a while,
I trust that now.
If you want to stay with this kind of thinking, I write regularly here.
This space will always remain free.
From time to time, I share deeper companion work elsewhere for readers who want to sit longer with certain questions.
No pressure.
Just an open door.
These essays are always free. Subscribers receive a short Human Code orientation, Before You Begin, as a thank-you for joining the journey.
